Hi Jim:
You might try Ron Wight at Cockshutt Acres in Markdale 519-924-2061. He has all sorts of dying Cockshutts and may be able to steer you to someone local who does engine work. I know of an excellent guy in the Guelph area.
I'd like to see that 570 someday
Good luck
Doug

Andrew:
What do you mean that you had your 570 super "done up to 91 HP"? Did you use the same Hercules motor and bored it out? to what? Or did you change motors all together? I believe the original 570 Supers were rated at 64 HP.

FYI For your inforation I used to go by Yoder & Frey auctions about once a month in the late and mid 1960's. They had a couple there once that had turbos on them. Hercules had an add where they talked about a tuboed DD-339 in about the same time frame.

would you have to drop the compression when you put the turbo on or were they left alone??

I have no idea what they did. They were on the lot. I do not even know if Hercules had a piston for them or if this was engine was modified by some machine shop

Looking forward to seeing your 570 Super.
I have one that has been converted from a puller(winner) back to a farm tractor. One year later the ole 339 began to loose power one day and oil came out the smoke stack. No knocking or hammering, just lost power. Bought a new engine,
298 Herc,(White) still in the crate. 1983 model. We are upgrading the hydraulics, steering, and electronics.
Have the old 339 sitting outside with a cover.
Will consider a buyer for the motor if anyone has a need.
We have not opened up the ole bullet to see what has gone wrong. One of the best tractors ever built.

after a few years of use like 3000 hours were on it, my grandfather took it in to the dealer and said i need more power cliff was the mechanics name and is still alive today took all the injectors out cleaned them and reajusted gov/high idle basicly it was putting out 2000RPM..our 570 super when sold had over 8000 hours on it in 6 years and looked like new when we sold it it ran good never smoked only when working like normal and the paint look like new the dealer couldent belive the shape it was in for that many hours, grandpa took great care for his equipment, they did dyno on the pto and it was putting 91h.p on the pto most guys with 570 supers did this to get more power.it had the same power as the 1900 but the 1900 ran cheeper and pulled more because of its wieght....

I purchased a '62 570 Super in 1993 and it's my favorite tractor. I had the injector pump and injectors completely rebuilt and it runs great. However, it does use some oil and wet stack occasionally under load. Do you know anyone that knows these DD-339 engines and can do a reliable overhaul on them? Thanks, Wade
