1850 hydraulics

How do you run a remote hydraulic cylinder(s) and still be able to use the 3-point together? How do you set the tractor up for this? I'm getting tired of always changing the flow bolt under the seat when I need to switch. Anybody out there have the answer? I'd appreciate it very much if there is an answer.

I owned an 1850 Oliver for over 34 years and never had the problem you have described. The only thing I ever had to change was the flow rate on the remotes to keep them from jumping as the implement was lowered at low rpm. This is accomplished by the screws with jam nuts on each side of the hydraulic housing. I guess I am wondering if these haven't been goofed with. You should not be having the problem you are describing if the hydraulic system is OK.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I know about the flow rate controls you mentioned. Those are not the "bolt" I was refering to. The "bolt" I mentioned is on the right side, under the seat and just above the platform and would be just behind the operator's right foot's heel. Take it out, and it has a point on it and also has a jamming nut to hold it in the set position. It just seems like I can have cylinder operation or 3 point, but I must chnage this "bolt's" position to match the method I want to use.

You need to expand on what your problem is.Are you saying that you can use one or the other but not both without changing the bolt? Are you using a double or single acting cyl.? You should be able to use a cyl. or the 3 P.H. without changing anything.

To operate a cylinder (sngl or dbl)the "bolt" has to be in one position; in this position the 3PH won't work. Reverse the position of the "bolt" and the cylinder(s) won't work, but the 3PH is OK. The system is "hydra-lectric". The "bolt" is located below the seat, on the operators right side, just above the platform (just behind the heel of the right foot). It has a point on it, and has a jamming nut to hold it in position. I've got a tractor manual, but I can't make out for sure what needs to be done or set; it's just confusing to me. It seems to me, this hydraulic system should be new enough to allow the use of either system without having to make any changes just like my JD3020 system. Thanks for a reply; does this help?
