Our 2255 that I had to have the trany rebuilt last year seems to have a new problem. To run the subsoiler, we have to hold the 3 point control lever in position or the unit will raise immediately. I checked the external draft control (cat 3) and nothing is unhooked or broken. Any ideas? It sure makes it hard to shift down the over/under with your left hand.

Just curious do you have your draft control set to the manual position (top hole) to pull your subsoiler.I bought a Landoll 5 shank in line ripper last fall to put on my 2255 and could not keep the front of tractor on the groung the draft control would continue to lift on hard clay ground.I decided it wasn't needed after putting twelve 160lb slab weights on the front and running it set on no draft. Just to get it out of the ground on end rows

Does the lever just creep up or does it feel like there is some sort of extra presure forcing it up?

The lever feels like it has a spring attached to it pulling it up. It may hold for a second in position, but any jarring causes it to spring to the top. I had this problem on an 1855 but it was due to the external draft contol being broken. Not the case here.

I was trying to find through your post, but if the handle does not stay put, are you awear of the fact that there is like a "friction brake" for lack of a better description that keeps tension on the handle and keeps it in its place. Maybe 30 years later it might have a little bit of wear and it needs to be adjusted for a little more tension
