I am having trouble starting my 880. It wont even turn over. Brand new, fully charged battery. When I turn on the ignition switch to the firts position I get the buzz and the oil light comes on. Move it over to the crank position and nothin. Any way I can bypass the ignition switch to see if its in the switch? Otherwise is it in the starter? A continuity tester shows continuity between the two electrical posts on the starter with the key off. Is that right??

By the way, this ething has a negative ground..thats the way it was when i bought it a few yrs ago. Dont know if that makes any difference here bu thought I'd throw it in.

Thanks in advance for your help.

How about your safety switch? You can check it. With the clutch petal down and the key in the start position, you should have power on the small terminal on the magnetic switch or solenod which is mounted on top of the starter. They do come out of adjustment. They were originally positive ground. Negative grounds came with alternators.
