Still have not figured out the engine model # - model # of the crawler is OC 12 60 DL - serial # is 1JX 248. On top of the head on the left front are the following letters MOLY BON8. Plate on the upper right side of the block was "sprayed" off. Anybody got any ideas??

The serial number says its a 1955, an early one! Engine should be a Hercules DJXC, 298 cu in 3 3/4 bore by 4 1/2 stroke. If the serial number plate is missing the model and engine serial number are usually stamped in the block on the upper right hand corner just under the head.

Thanks Bob -- when sitting in the seat, the serial number plate "was" on the right side behind the generator and a bit higher -- I cleaned the grease and dirt off the area you are talking about -- could paint be covering the stamped in numbers -- could it be on the front of the block??? I am sure you are right but would like to find the numbers!!!!!

The paint will have to go, the stamping is not that heavy and is easily covered with paint. But I have always found it there on a Hercules.
