What did the Deeres go for? I thought of going up there but the ones they had seemed out of my price range.

I don't know. Most of the newer Deeres were on the last row and I didn't watch them sell. Sorry.

You should have came up and stood in the rain, tromped in the mud with me. Fun, Fun. ";^)

None. I had already spend my allotment for the day.

As far as deals. I asked the fellow, that bought the plows, what he was going to pull them with. He said an 1850 that he had recently bought. Said the lady only wanted $1500 because the steering and hydraulics didn't work. He found the splines stripped on the long PTO shaft. Replaced the shaft and hub on the flywheel, and was good to go.

About made me sick. $1500 for a 1850. Oh well.

Geez, at those prices I would have grabbed both of the 18's! For some reason I seem to always end up at the unbelievable overpriced auctions. Just my luck, I guess.

Jake

...really wishing I had an 1850...

Jake, Don't know where you are in NY, but my neighbor in Weathersfield, VT has an 1850 diesel for sale. It's a very nice looking unit that he has spent some time and money on. He's used it mostly for haying and chopping a little corn. I'd have bought it myself, but I needed a utilty model. Good luck looking, Jared

Do you suppose your neighbor would accept a check postdated for 2010? I'm a little short of funds at the moment. :)

Not sure where Weathersfield is, but I'm down in the Catskill Mountains so I'm sure it's at least 3 hours away, if not more like 4-5. Oh well, maybe another day when after I've won the lottery.

Jake,
The 1855 and 1850 were not advertised. Few knew they were there. Not much bidding interest on either one. At the Jan. sale, the "pecking" 1955, was advertised, and had allot of interest.

Both tractors were sold as "ride and drive". If you decided that you liked your money better, just walk away and leave the tractor sit.

"Ride and drive"? Where is this auction? Only thing I've ever seen is "buyer beware- and we'll try to cover up the flaws til we get your money".

Auction was just outside, the sprawling metropolis of, Campbellsburg, KY.

This was an consignment auction. Most of the tractors were sold "ride and drive". It was up to the seller as to which way. "Ride and drive" or "Sold as is, where is, no warranty expressed or implied".

Gonna fly in for the next one??? ":^)

Took a trip 3 years ago to a big Cockshutt auction (about 30 tractors) in Kearny, Nebraska- rented a car and drove around Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas. Didn't buy at the Cockshutt auction, but ended up with a Moline 4 Star Super out of Missouri. Would love to take another trip, but I'd have to win the lottery to come up with fuel money.

The missus and I were in your country in '99, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Stopped at a Tennessee Walker farm in Tennessee, whose trainer was a "friend of a friend"- we were going to shoot the bull for an hour or so and move on, but ended up staying 3 days. I do like that southern hospitality.

None. My fear of the skillet prevailed over my Oliver urges. ":^(

Perhaps the little woman would enjoy a lovely set of aluminum cookware for B-day or Christmas- I understand that as a side benefit, they are not nearly as painful as the cast iron variety. You could kind of "take one for the team" and bring home another Ollie or two.

Oh, I took a skillet. Drug home a 256 dolly wheel rake.
