Hey fellas. I have an old 70 that is a BONE of a machine. I think I can get intake, heads, rods, and crank out of it. Not much else would be good except tranny internals. Are these of any value or are later engine parts prefered? Is a 77 similar? I am not green so I dunno. I'd just hate to throw away something someone needs.

Oliver 70 and 77 are 2 entirely different machines. If I was salvaging it out I would get the govenor as well as the timing gears and any internals I could take loose.

Get the trans shaft to engine output shaft coupler and keys. The flywheel and output shaft. The bearing on the transmission input shaft is over $50 now so if it is any good remove it, place in plastic bag with plenty of oil, and lable it. Don't forget the oil slinger in front of the bearing as well.

The rear end cover is sheet metal and the tool box has a tendancy to rust through. Save yours if any good. Brake drums and bands are often needed. Inspect and keep if good. Keep the large nut that holds the drum in place as these are often boogered up real bad during removal and installation.

Save the seat pan and any sheet metal that is any good especially the battery cover.

Thanks for the advice. This thing is rough, but I think the engine internals are all right. Not much sheet metal left. It is a BONE of a machine, but I didn't know about market value of these parts. I am all M-M and have a good feel for those parts. Good info sir! I will try to dissaseble it and see who needs some extra parts for a low price. I hate to see any good stuff go to the iron man. Tranny and belly casting may go. Not much else there!
