Does anyone have a picture or can tell me the routing of the right side battery cables to the left side on a 1600 diesel? Mine only has one and I would like to get it back to original but can't see an obvious place to run it.

I know you would like to get it back to original, but you would be better off to use just one 12 volt. I have 3 1850 diesels with Perkins engines, and changed them to use just one 12 volt under the hood. I use the Interstate 31P battery that has 975 CCA. Use 1/0 battery cables, and that is all you need.

On my 1650 diesel and I believe the 1600 was the same. There are two 6volt batteries in series for 12 volts. I replaced the cable with 2/0 with soldered ends from McMaster Carr. which turns out to be one size too big physically can't replace the trans cover in the center. probably will end up replacing that cable only. replaced one battery, as the other one had about 3 hrs on it. Now cranks and preheats great. still hard to start.
Now if we are talking gas, per the book only had 1 12v battery on left side.
Good luck Ron

No Ron, it's a diesel. I just can not see any way to run the cables under the floor plate and there isn't enough room to run two cables out the front?
