I used the same perkin flywheel off the 1850
my machine shop rework the center and came out real good with no vibration and used the 1850
hub and the 1850 long pto shaft rework the end
of the pto shaft make it smaller to used a
thicker bushing in flywheel so far everything
works just fine

Thanks for the help. I will give him a call on Monday. I got the two main ingredients for a cummins conversion. A cummins 5.9 and an 1850 with a engine that went south. Any input would be appreciated. The engine I am getting is a truck engine with an inline pump for $500. I couldn't pass it up. The engine started right up after sitting for 2 weeks and didn't smoke one bit after a minute of running. It has the rear sump pan and I believe the right bell on the engine. Any input would be appreciated.

The biggest things in using a truck engine are. The exhaust manifold, depenig on what you have on motor you will want the turbo on top of the motor so it fits under the hood. The water inlet and outlets need to be changed. The inlet needs to be Cummins part #3934877 and outlet #3914409. THese numbers are for a 4BT but will fit either motor. Ask Glenn for them he may have them, I got them from him both for $40. YOur pump will not have a hydraulic governor. Honestly depending on what the tractor will do you may not need it. My 1955 I did not put governor in pump and she runs fine on the silo blower. The rest of it is plumbing intake and exhaust. Is your motor intercooled?? THe 1850 I repowered with 4BT got intercooled when I was done with it. Good luck Marc

I am assuming you put on a JWAC jacketed water air cooler istead of an air to air cooler. This one has an air to air cooler mounted in front of the rad. in the truck it is coming out of. There is not enough room to mount it on the tractor though. The turbo is mounted upright on top of the exhaust manifold with exhaust facing forward. I have no idea what HP it is because the tags are missing. Did you use the original air cleaner? Just for curiosity, how much would you have to cut out of a Waukesha frame to drop one in? I am looking forward to trying this after I complete a few other projects. Right now I have a 2150 apart to reseal the transfer case, and a 2-155 to put a clutch in and rebuild the PTO. I'm trying to gather info. and parts gradually. The Perkins couldn't take the 200Hp we were running out of it with the added on charger and a few other mods. we did to it. The cummins should be a cheaper fix, at least I hope

I actually used air to air cooler. A local radiator shop narrowed an intercooler that came out of a truck at work for me. With the 4bt in the frame I had way too much room in front of it. I had radiator narrowed and moved back and made a wider front side panel to help cover it up. It looks factory to the untrained eye. I used an air cleanr out of an 1855 and hood scoop out of a 2-105. I welded the hood solid with sheet metal and made new holes for everything. YOu will need a front tub from an 1850 diesel if yours is not. If it is you will not need to cut the frame at all. All you need is a SAE#3 clutch housing for the motor and an 1850 diesel bellhousing. THen to make the PTO work a WHite 140 pto hub along with 140 flywheel. THen the only major thing is making motor mounts. Brad at Maibach tractor had posted about someone he knows making these. They are not difficult just need to be perfect. Also you may need a new fan mount to get your fan in the shroud. YOu can email me if you would like a lot easier than this. Good luck Marc
