I have a 1850 MFWD with a JD loader on it. Like Sam M said in close quaters you need a smaller machine. I use mine to plow snow, handel 2000# fertilizer bags, dig manure, handel large round and square bales and lift implements on and off trucks and trailers. The beef in the 1850 is real nice. PK

In my opinion , it all depends on what you are looking for . This tractor is about 92 to 95 hp on the pto and heavy so , to me , it is larger than the type tractor on which most people put a loader . If you are needing the loader for close work say in a barn this tractor may not work . On the other hand , if you are out in the open and need a heavy , strong pulling tractor , this one would be good . It has the ability to be plumbed for a power beyond set up so you do not have to use your remotes for the loader (the loader will need its own valve though ) . If the 1850 you are looking at has the over under auxillary transmission ( three speed shifter) it would be really good with a loader since you could change three speeds without putting in the clutch . The transmission on my 1850 shifts really easily from foward speeds to reverse speeds and power steering is really good , both of which are important for loader work . I would only buy an 1850 for loader work if it is a wide front tractor . I have read on this web site about Olivers with a tricycle front ends and a loader turning over . Just my thoughts , other may feel differently .
