As many of you are aware, there has been some disagreement among the members of HPOCA. There has been talk of many members leaving in view of the events that took place last fall/winter and the lack of adequate explanations from the board and president. There has been some talk of a new Oliver club, just wondering how many of you might be interested in joining if such a club was to start? This would be something completely new and totally seperate from HPOCA. THis club could cover the OLiver, Cletrac line as well as other tractors built under the White name, the newer ones too....At this point it's just an idea, but if enough interest is shown, it could be a reality.

Just to follow up with what the intent of the new club might be. In my opinion we need to take the politics and jealousy out of it. Get back to the basics of what a tractor collectors club is supposed to be. Get the decision making process out in the open, with no closed door meetings for the "board members" only. Also to provide a place for all owners of Oliver/Cletrac/White/Moline equipment,,both the old and rare, and the more modern equipment that we work with every day. Keep in mind, this is only an idea at this point, but I feel there is much room for improvement, from what the "other" organization has been.

First let me say that I have no desire to start a war of words. Others have expressed strong feelings abiut the need for loyalty to hpoca. My stong feelings are that the current management of hpoca does not deserve loyalty because they have no respect for ideas and opinions differing from their own. I would join a new club immediately. My membership in hpoca was allowed to lapse in protest because significant efforts by a number of loyal members were not successful in getting input to club operation. The president and board have simply not been responsive to member concerns and are not open to allowing participation by people outside their little clique. Furthermore some board members actually have resorted to physical intimidation in an attempt to suppress opposition. Look at the hpoca forum. Legitimate questions about board meetings and bylaws for the museum foundation have gone unanswered for days. Calls by hpoca for group participation are a joke! Wake up and smell the coffee. Good people have tried hard to get answers and to change hpoca from within and all these efforts have been thwarted by the president and board. Its time to move on and start a new club. Many will choose to be members of both clubs. Thats fine. But some of us are bothered by the situation at hpoca and don't have the stomach for that organization right now.

I am new to Oliver tractors having just purchased a 1650 a few months ago. I love it. I am just getting started farming small time on my owne but I grew up farming and I might like to join a new club so I can see what is going on from the beginning. I dont know what is going on but is sounds similar to what happened to Cesar and I do not really want to be a part of anything like that. I may just need to be educated on the situation but right now the new club sounds like somthing I would like to be a part of. I also like the idea of other tractors like white and MM being involved as how they were meshed together and AGCO still supplies their parts. Just my openion and good luck.

I think this has gone to the point of ridiculous. We need to grow up! Its not about the person, rather the tractors, implements, and nostalgia. In do time, someone will make a decision in a new club or whatever, and you same guys will be crying about it and wanting to break away again. Where is the loyalty. If it were not for HPOCA, the Oliver fever would not be as popular. People will always disagree, mature people know how to do that and move on committed to a purpose. Personally, I would not want to be a part of a group that is not willing to let the leaders be the leaders and always second guessing. The thought of it is sickening!! All this over 1 woman..... .Woe unto man!!!!!

I think you are the one that needs to grow up as you don't seem to know what really is going on. To say "over a woman" is ridiculous.....The tactics used and the way matters were handled atre the issue. This matter also forced Landis Zimmerman to resign his board position. Did you know that? Or did you just overlook it?

The atmosphere surrounding the Oliver magazine and club never appealed to me. As a young collector I like to hear accounts of the past generation and learn as many of the dying trades as possible. I could not understand why it seems so important to make it known what number your membership is? I stayed away from the club and generally just read the magazine because of this kind of vibe. I know nothing of what happened with board members but I still like the magazine itself. Wether a new club is formed or not there will still be those of us who like the Oliver.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! I think another club that covers all the lines under white motors is an idea that is long overdue. Oliver was and still is a great product, but in the end, was intregrated in with other great products to become white farm machinery. I think as a club, they should all be included as one. In todays business world, NOTHING keeps companys or people on their toes like competition. Maybe, just maybe, a new club will be the only thing that saves the hpoca from self destruction.Either way, this idea has my vote.

A new Oliver club would be a great idea. We've seen that there will be ample room for another fantastic Oliver magazine and it would be really nice to see another Oliver club put together that would remember what this whole tractor collecting, showing, and getting together is all about..... ..... ...FUN!!!! Not taking a swing on someone in a coat closet!

Well, I think either the current club or if there is ever some new club, we need to talk about the Whites too. I was born when Whites were being made, and I tend to favor the 50/55 series Olivers and Whites, and there is hardly any information on the Whites. Thats what became of the three original companies, and those Whites are important too!

When you suggest that someone runs for office, and the HPOCA is a "democracy".....how do you propose that someone does that when the nominating process is set up to virtually exclude anyone who is not in favor with the present board of directors. If the HPOCA was truly run as a democracy, none of what occurred last year would have actually happened. And to think that the nominating process will be changed is a joke,, they have it the way they want it.

I don't think a new club is what we need. The members that are not happy need to either run for a board position or find some individuals that they think would do the job better and vote them in. The club is a democracy not a dictatorship. The other thing that they should do is attend the general meetings at the Winter get together and the national show to bring up things that they think should be changed and have the general membership vote on them. It is the members' club not just the board. The board with no direction is going to do what they want to.
I think there is one good thing that came out of Sherry being let go. There are now two Oliver magazines coming to my house.
And for those who are a member just for the magazine, I feel sorry for you. The club is more than just the magazine. I think some forget that.

Just my opinion!

well i dont know about the democracy part. from what i see it shure is a dictator ship tho. and as far as board members doing what members want thats a bunch of bull. any body that renews a contract in aug. then fires somone in nov. has problem. but i think a lot of good has come out of it. now we members realy see what board is all about.

I would be esp if it covers MM's and cookshutts and any other in the line. I only know Olivers and prefer the 50 series. I would like to know more about MM and the rest.
I also think Sherry's mag is great.
