Sometimes the hydralic system does not work on our 4-175. If it dont work when it is started, we have to shut it off and start it several times until it works. Seems to do it intermittantly, not every time, but only when cold. It affects the whole system. A serviceman from an AGCO dealer has been out twice and went through filters, pump, and had valves apart with no success. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like your unloader valve is sticking. The unloader valve keeps the hyd. pump from building up pressure while you are starting the tractor. When the hyd. is working shut the tractor off and listen for a click from the control valve, that is the unloader valve opening up to release the pressure, you may need someone on the ground to listen for the click, it will happen a few seconds after you shut the tractor off and it may be hard to get out of the cab in time to hear it.Then when the hyd. is not working shut the tractor off and listen for the click,if you don't hear it,that means the unloader valve was not closed and that is why the pump did not build up pressure.

The valve under the hyd filter and hyd pump was torn down and a worn ball was replced. Is this the unloader valve? The dealer we are working with sold 1 2-155 over the years and nothing bigger, so they dont have much experience with this tractor. Thanks for the reply.

sounds like the modulator spring in he elipdicator
valve is too weak. Try replacing it with a 2000
psi spring.

Of course it could be a worn spool in the renumerator valve bank, you might want to switch
to extra virgin olive oil.
