got the 550 running pretty well.

My neighbor Dave adjusted the valves, set the tiiming.

We put in Champion D21 plugs (2 levels hotter than the 14's I had in there) and set the gap at 35.

The electronic ignition is working great.

The 12v negative ground alternator kit really kicks out the juice too.

Did a couple of clutch pops on the hard pan gravel road and lifted the front end off the road, digging the tires into the gravel.

The govener is working well, as is the new clutch pack.

New rubber on the rear, and next week new on the front.

It even took off in 6th gear.

be adding a new carb next week too.

sprayed a little water in the carb intake to clean the cylinders.....should have seen the crap that came out the exhaust. Black soot, chuncks of carbon.

no popping on valves. We are getting there.

What more could one expect from a guy who does "clutch pops" to test his new clutch.

YOU are absolutely right!!!!! !...not very much....so no reason to expect anything in the future either....so sorry to have offended you.

Again, my sincerest apologies for getting some happiness from taking a poor, tough running 550 and doing a few clutch pops on my one year old, 100 acres or more worked up with, I paid for it, clutch.

You can be sure that I'll not share anything with anybody again, for fear of offending.

I've suggested to the web master that we pull this offending original post, all related posts, and that the web master pass all posts through you for your kind, correct, and technical, approval.

Thanks, and have an Oliver Great Day!

Warmest of Regards,

your humbled servant

Oliver 550 Jeff; It sounds like your getting the full 41.4 hp out of your rig. I couldn't believe the clutch thing either. Shame on you you beast
brutalizer. Then again it is your beast. Rock on!

some probably don't like this, but if (using a spray bottle), you spray a little water in the intake, the heat turns the water to steam and cleans the cylinders.

HOWEVER! DON"T DO THIS ON A DIESEL, OR HIGH COMPRESSION OR HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINE UNDER SIGNIFICANT SPARK ADVANCE

a little goes a long ways. to much, and you can break things.

some performance engines actually have used a water injection system to cool the cylinder down, to prevent knock.

the water turns to steam, and it cleans up the cylinder head, valves, and piston tops nicely.

some people use tranny fluid...used that before too..but neighbors don't like the clouds of white, smelly smoke.
