I was running out of travel on the clutch and had to grind the transmission into gear. I adjusted the clutch travel about 1 1/2 inches. It not starts to have pressure about 1 1/2 inches down from the top of the pedal position. This is about 3/8 - 1/2 inch on the clutch rod.

Does this sound about right? It seems to disengage the clutch and shifts fine now. Anything to watch out for?

Jim, the main thing is to maintain "free travel" in the clutch pedal. That is movement of the pedal from it's upper most engaged position to the moment you feel pressure against the pedal. It sounds as if you have that with your 1 1/2" measurement. I take it that before you had alot of movement of the pedal before you felt the pressure. If that amount of movement has increased in a short period of time, there may be other problems such as worn clutch fingers or a throw out bearing starting to go bad. WB.
