I replaced the hyd pump and it doesn't seem to bleed very well. I'm told to start the tractor, exercise all the hydraulics, shut tractor off, fill with fluid and open bleed valve on top of hyd filter. Did all that but even after 5-10 minutes I just get little drops and dribbles. Is this bleeding OK or should it run out?

I thought of this after I sent the other one. Was mention made of the fact to check the compensator adjustment? Also just curious if there was a large difference in the price of a complete pump and that of the rotating group?

ADD the fluid first!!You may have something stopping the compensator valve from opening up the pump. Its halfway common for the compensatetor to stick first thing. You often get filings or crud being the first thing pushed into a new pump from the stuff removed.Clean the small valve on the end of the pump its held on by 4 small screws.make sure it slides easy.

I hope you filled the pump with oil before you started the tractor.

Alot of times the oil will not run out, maybe only drip. That bleed is mainly for the filter to get air out of it after changing. If the hyd. are working properly, then the system will work out any air that may still be in there. WB.
