I'm thinking about replaceing the carb on my 77 since I have to rebuild it every year just to get it to run well enough to mow the hay. My question is it has a TSX363 on it now, can I put a TSX374 or TSX755 on instead and if so which one and will either one help with HP and still be able to bolt up to the manifold that is on it right now???
Also will the linkage be the same?? Thanks for your help

Yes old, a tsx 755 from a 770 will fit. The carb is bigger but the mounting bolts are the same. A 77 intake has smaller intake runners than the 770. A 770 manifold will bolt up no problem but the power you are going to gain might not be worth the money you want to spend ..... .Just a thaught...

True I want to stay with the 77 manifold, so sounds like I'll go with a TSX374, next question is the TSX374 the carb made for the super 77??

My IT shop manual says the tsx 374 was made for the 77's after serial #6503000 and the supers as well.

Old, I have an official Oliver TSX carb manual (printed 1953) that says the TSX 374 should work just fine. The book says they were use on the 88 HC and replaced the TSX 181 on the early 88's.

I hope this helps. Let me know if your not intested in keeping your TSX 363.

The place that I would be getting the carb from will probably want me to do an exchange with them, one reason I'm thinking about the 374 is its about $50 less then a rebuilt 363.

Rebuild the carb every year? I'm sure you know that's not normal with proper care and maintenance. Are you letting the old gas set in the carb and not using the 77 very often? Should be drained out of the carb via the two drain plugs at the bottom of the carb if it's going to sit for a while. Maybe use Marvel Mystery Oil with your gas to keep it "clean"?

Anyhow, I think the TSX 374 will work since I believe (haven't looked lately) my dad has one on his 77 standard. The TSX 603 from the supers will work since my dad has one on his 66 RC. The TSX 755 I'm not sure about. Something tells me they're two big for the intake bolts and the manifold inlet is too small. I could be wrong on that.

Extra HP form a bigger carb? Probably nothing that you'd notice or worth spending the money on especially if your motor hasn't been rebuild anytime lately.

Ya the 77 sits all winter and only get run when I do hay or need to dog post holes, the carb has given me problems for years, the one brass tube in the middle of the carb has a little bend in it and thats probably not helping any either. If I'm reading my catalog right the 374 is for the super 77 and $50 cheaper then the 363 carb
