Well the price was right so I brought the 1755 home this weekend. After a hour of pressure washing it's not looking too bad. I'm in the process of changing all the fluids and filters. Man o man did the oil ever run like water! (most of the maintence hasn't been done since 2000) still got good pressure though, 40-45 psi at idle and 60-65 reved up. I've read the Over/Under uses Type A tranny fluid. Is that the same as Type FA the old ford mustangs use to use? Or is it a different tranny fluid? Thanks!

I've always used CaseIH hy-tran hyd. oil and have never had any problems.

Type A was replaced by Dexron/Mercon III. This is what GM used. Ford is Type F and the only difference is that Ford fluid creates a harder shift and less slippage. Try the both fluids in the same tranny and you'll see what I mean. Not a big difference, but enough to feel easily.

I run into that a couple of months ago. The guy at the parts store told me that type A was replaces by Dextron. then DextronII and so on. He said use either Dextron III or Ford as I think one would handle heat better. I also heard on here to run hydraulic fluid. I used the Dextron and so far no problems.

Some say run good quality hydraulic oil, but don't mix them.
