Broke my 4x4 in the 2150 today running the ripper. The balls came out of the U-joint on the left side and banged up both yokes, lucky it didnt jam and break the whole housing. Looks like I am going to need both axle halves. Anyone got an idea on a good place to get them or what they are gonna cost?? Anyone ever tried putting a normal U-joint on the axle shafts and running it like that. That ball system worries me a little, I think that a ball may come loose again sometime and this will happen again. Any ideas would be helpful.....

I did the right side of my 2255 last year. I think they came from Mabachs and I had to return the old one. I got mine through O'Brien County Implement (they have a web site). Talk to Tom. Cost about half of what a White model cost. It was very easy to install.

Same thing happened to my dads 1950. local welding shop rebuilt the corners of the knuckels and we turned out the stops so it wouldn't turn as tight. That was 17 years ago, no problems since but takes 20 acres to turn it around. good luck

Good grief, I couldnt imagine the 2150 turning any worse than it already does. I am going to go ahead and order the new style joints from Mabaughs (sp) and maybe I can make it turn a little shorter with the new joints????? My new cylinders are long enough, I just need to move the stops and adjust the cylinders to make it turn more.

I think I am going to go ahead and do both sides while I am at it, maybe do one at the barn and then drive it back to the shop to do the other side..... I have heard that the knuckles are almost impossibe to weld and fix, and personally I am not too impressed with that ball system. I think a regular cross joint will work better.

We shall see :>)

Mabachs in Ohio had what I needed, I love that place..... They have the axles with a new style U-joint in stock and ready to ship. Maybe I will be back up and running yet this week.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Hey Shep, Had the same thing happen to us on our 2255. Stopped the front wheel cold in the field. After various options, went with the remanufactured shafts with a regular u-joint welded on. I thought I got them from somewhere in Ohio and I had to send my old ones back in. There should be some historic posts on this. Everything seems to be fine other than a small oil leak that we need to watch. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me, started out I could not turn left and then it stopped the wheel. I put it in 2wd and got it back to the barn, but Im over 5 miles from my shop... What a pain....

This sounds like what I was thinking with the U-joints, I didnt know anyone already made them though. I will do some searching on the old posts. Do you remember where you got them from, or how much they were??? Do you still run oil in the housing with the U-joint or not????

Thanks

Sorry, I don't know who exactly I got it from, but the information came from this message board. To get our tractor moving again, we had to take the small gears out of the planetary and then disengage the 4 wheel drive. I do know the welded on axle was about one-half the cost of the original from Agco. About $750.00 if I recall. If you don't get anywhere on the searches or other posts, let me know. I will look it up, but till April 15th I am pretty busy. A taxman who loves to farm with Olivers!

Wonder about White parts. Did they use the same system with balls or regular U-Joint? Would they fit? Might be an option.

I would guess that they use the same ball system, but I dont know. That is a good thought, I will check with the AgCo dealer today and see what they have.
