Just thought i would share today. The local club I am in had a plow day today. There were about 9-12 tractors showed up and to plow roughly 22 acres. Farmalls Jd's Allis's and 3 Olivers. My 77 pulled really well but the Oliver plow I have needs a little work on the hitch. My dad drove our 88 discing and had more fun than i have seen him have in a long time.

WE swapped tractors and I went and plowed with the 88 and a borrowed plow. Man it was FUN!!!!! been riding them from about 10 this morning till around 4:30 with a great BBQ lunch in between. I will say this, there was a guy there with a IH 450 diesel that is a hoss! he was pulling 4-14's or 4-16's through some tough ground.

Glad you had fun. Back in the good old days spent many days plowing with a 70 and a 2-12's. Then in 67 we got a 1850 and pulled 5-14"s. I just finished work on the 1850 and will move it out of the shop tomorrow. If you get a chance come see it. I will get my 77 in and try to straighten out the governors and might need some help. Glad you had a good day. TC

Am looking to step up to a 3 or 4 spring reset. Could I try 5-14 with my 1850 D? Am noticing at auctions most 5 bottoms are going for less than 3 or 4 but I wasn't sure about pulling 5.

Been pulling a 5-14 with my 1850, in clay soil and it doesn't have a problem. Took out a lot of roots with the first plowing and it didn't even slow down.

If you are looking for a plow my uncle has a Oliver plow for sale. I think that it is a 4-16, and I know that it is a autoreset. If anyone is interested please e-mail me.

Thanks
Chris

You shouldn't have any trouble pulling 5 14's. I've pulled 6 14's behind my 1850 diesel in 4th and low range in some pretty heavy clay soil. The rear tires are half full of fluid and I've got one wheel wieght on each of the rears. The neighbor had the plow setting around and offered to let me try it out. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
