I'm thinking of buying a Cockshutt. I think it is a 70. The pait is long gone and it has been sitting in an old barn fr who knows how many yrs. I was looking for info for a 70, but i can't find any...How can one tell what number it is. Also the plate with the s/n says Oliver, Hart-Parr, and Cockshutt. How do I know what it is? Thanks

Yes there is a 70 row crop and a 70 standard. Both are the same as there Oliver counterparts except paint and decals, and a couple other minor things. the 70RC was made from around 1935 to 1948, the motor is a 201 cubic inch Continental with a 3 1/8 bore and 4 3/8 stroke and has a 4 speed transmission. there was an optional 6 speed tranni. Basically look at front round nose casting it may say 70 also motor tag if readable may say 70 and metal nose strip will say Cockshutt. If you send me you email I can forward it to some freinds in Ontario with a restored 70 who will be happy to help. Irv
