I got an Oliver Super 88 diesel from my Grandpa today that had been sitting for quite a few years on the farm. It was one he had bought at an auction years ago very cheaply and he never had any use for it, so there it sat. Anyway, it's up on a hill, and we're trying to pull it down with another tractor, but I want to make sure the brakes work before we pull it down from there, because I don't want to be chasing him down the hill atop four tons of cast iron that I can't get stopped. (BTW, for some reason or other I can't get the clutch pushed in, so the idea of putting it in gear and holding in the clutch is out the window. Any ideas?) I guess what I really want to know is, how do I go about making the brakes usable enough to safely get it down? The ground it is sitting on now is not completely level; is this a problem? He does have the I&T Service Manual which should help, but it seems to me that first hand experience is a better teacher than a book. Thanks a lot, Nathan
P.S. Don't I have a wonderful talent for taking three paragraphs to ask two simple questions? Sorry!
