Am posting this question for a friend, who has an 88 row crop and needs a 3 point. Did Oliver 88's have factory 3 points? And if so, where might someone find one?

The 88's could only mount 2 of the 3 original factory Oliver 3 point hitches styles.

The Power Traction Hitch was marketed toward the Oliver 770 and 880's and it was the only tractor that had the flat bolt on area below the bell housing. One of the areas they must attach to the tractor. The 660 didn't have this feature.

The first CAT 1 3-point hitch was marketed to the 66's and 77's for light to medium duty work. This hitch changed it looks slightly but the over all look stayed the same. It was later marketed with the Super 66, Super 77 and the 660. There was a second beefier hitch that was marketed for the 77 and 88 with medium to heavy duty work. It may have been both CAT 1 and CAT 2, I'm not sure.

All are very difficult to find and can be costly. Post an add in the classifieds to see if someone has an original for sale. Beware of the folks that have no idea what a factory hitch looks like and will sell you one that came off an Oliver so it must be. Get pictures first and possibly part numbers to cross reference. Others have bought and used after- market 3-points with varing success. Not to mention they look weird.

I can get some pictures of each and e-mail them if you drop me your e-mail.

I just purchased a 3pt from a junkyard off an 880. It does not have the top link that I can tell. It does have the mounting on the bottom of the tractor - is it a 'power traction' 3pt? If so how do you use it for 3pt implements?

An Oliver Power Traction hitch will have to attach to the center lower side of the bell housing on a flat section that is specifically there for the hitch. It also attaches to the left nad right of that area where the standard drawbar attaches also. If it doesn't mount on that flat spot then you have one of the other ones. The top link is formed like a yoke and has two peices coming out from it to adjust the level of the implements. Most are missing, bent bad, broke and welded. You can find then if you know where to look and most guys will charge from $100 to $200 just for it.

You have to have hydraulics to make it drive the cylinder that moves the arms for your attached implements to move up and down.

I hope this helps.

They did make a factory 3 point- I believe they called it a Power-Traction Hitch, or some such. Like all the optional equipment on old iron, they're very hard to find- folks snatched them up years ago.

Don't think so but I'm not sure. They make some pretty good after market one or if you know welding etc they aren't hard to build. I built one for my 77 check my web page for pictures
