Since the distributor on my Super 88 is a Delco 6 cylinder distributor, will an HEI distributor out of say a 1981 Chevrolet pick up with the 250 straight six fit in and work?If so would this be better than a Pertronix electronic pickup(hotter spark and reliability)? Thanks

I have no idea if an HEI distributor would fit, but I doubt it. If you can find a Pertronix unit
that will work, I would go with that. Now if the
catalog doesn't show a Pertronix number for your application, have your parts man look a little harder for you. I've put a few of these in vehicles where the factory reps from Pertronix swore that there was no Pertronix module available for the applications that I've put them in.

If the HEI would fit I thought that it would be about the best setups for it but the gearing may be different. They had hot fire for what they was and I had changed many points distributors to HEI back in the late early 80's with good performance.I called CBS Performance and the dude assured me he had just what I needed if I wanted the Pertronix setup, even gave me the part number.Just want the super 88 to pound a little ground w/o stroking.
