Well the day's finally came that the 1755 is coming up for sale. They haven't determined a price yet so I figured I'd see what some of you think it might be worth. I belive it's a 1973 1755 diesel, wide front, cat 2 3 point, hiniker year round cab. 6500 hrs showing on the tach, this tractor has been a "very high maintence" tractor since it was new. From what the previous farmer told me the tranny is very touchy. More than once it has been stuck in gear until torn down. Even after an overhaul the engine still uses water...
Sheet metal wise it's in decent shape, no major dings or dents. The cab is missing two windows, I don't know if the heat and A/C work.. Currently the tractor sits on 18.3x34 w/50% tread. NO batterys... I don't know a whole lot about Olivers (yeah all I currently own is red...) I see the diesels use 2 batteries. Are they two 6v batteries tandemed together? Or will one big 12v work? Thanks!

'73 1755D 6cyl 310D xmsn 18F-6R 87hp PTO 8873lbs
9330 new lo 5420 mid 6380 hi 7530.
I believe these prices are all way high but only because of the tranny problems(s). Ask around from other Ollie guys what it may take time and money wise to set this complex puller box into reliable mode. If you don't lay claim to an excess of money get several pix of this rig and put it on your mantle explaining to friends how
this "big" one got away and then almost sigh.
Good luck in whatever direction you turn.

Thanks for all the replys! I'm still waiting for him to come up with a price. I've been watching the tractor since the neighbor bought it when I was 3. Ever since my first ride while making hay I wanted to get it, thus the interest in it even though it is pretty much so a "basket case". I've definatly got more than enuf of my own stuff that needs wrenching without taking on another project! lol I've got horses so I usually don't make more than 1000 bale of hay a year, and with the "reds" I can still get everything made, just not while hearing the diesel :)

Hi Joe,
Yes they used 2- 6 volt batteries in series. One, high CCA rated, 12 volt works well, or 2- 12 volt in parallel in real cold climates. Sounds like this is a project tractor. Needs motor, tranny, cab work and no telling what else, internally. If your looking for a project tractor, I'd say go for it. If not, I think you will be money ahead looking for something else. I'm terrible with prices,(I'm cheap) but I would say 2K to 2.5K range seems fair.

My 2¢

I bought one the other week for $3900. Sheetmetal is good decent paint, tires 50% wide front, cab with no doors. The engine runs good, all the gauges on the dash work, and all the lights and 6 flashers work as well. Tractor has 3800 hours on it runs and drives good. It has a few minor leaks that need fixed up front but nothing major. I thought it was a good deal.

Joe,

A friend of mine has a 1755 he is thinking of selling. It is a clean tractor, but no cab. I have an Oliver 1855 FWD and a White 2-70, otherwise I would buy it.
He has a SAME tractor he uses all the time and wants to get another. Send me an e-mail, and I will give you his phone number. He is located in Vermont, if thats not to far for you.

I am always interested in the 55 series tractors no matter how far. Just a matter of getting them. I have to get out to Illinois 2 times for differetn things and then to Iowa for a Perkins motor. YOu can email me at firemanmarc@yahoo.com. Thanks, Marc

I dont know about you but I've got enough things of my own to wrench on let alone pay hard earned money to buy someone else's problems. At least the seller is telling you whats wrong with it though.

Oh, forgot to add.. maintence wise I'd say the filters haven't been changed since 1999.... Even though it's been in use since then (not sure how many hours). And the fluids are all barely showing on the dip sticks.
