I just put new tires on the rear of a 62 550. They wobble from side to side when going down the road probably about 3 inches. I tried readjusting the rim to adjustable rails but didnt help much. Can I put shims between the axle and rim?? Any other ideas??

If your wheels are spin outs ? Do you have 2 stops for your spin out rails ? Are they on the same way ?
If so you should be able to Loosen center to rail adjusters and spin it in a little and then back out to stops on rails providing stops are in the same holes. Need stops across from one another till you get it tightened up again then you can move rail stops one on each side of wheel tightner ??
This works for me. Just something to try ??

Wheels Wobble but they don't fall down?

If you want this problem fixed in a hurry, just call a tractor tire installer service that makes calls to the site.
Should be a fairly easy fix for the pro's and how much could it cost? Fifty, maybe a bit more.
If your to far out in the countryside, keep trolling the internet for a procedure.

Kenny Im not exactly sure what your talking about. The rims are spinouts There are to stops but they are on the same rail. They are turned the same way. I took 1 stop off and loosened the centers and spin the wheel in and back out and replaced the stop. Same problem. Are you talking about putting stops on another rail?? Only 1 rail has holes drilled in it.

Sounds like to me you have the centers out of kilter if using PAWs. I have an AC D10 that wobbles much the same way on one tire. Unfortunately the locks have been welded to the hoops so it stays that way till I get wheels.

Not sure how to level it but if it were me I would unmount the entire rear wheel and tire. Lay it on a flat concrete surface and with a spirit level adjust the center until level. Once level lock it in place and remount the assy. to the rig and test drive.

FWIW

If they didn't wobble before the new tires I'd say you did something wrong.Shims would only compound the problem I would think.

Spinout rims run true no matter what position they are in. Sounds like your inner wheel is not seated properly, if its hung up on the hub that would give the wobble described. I have 2 S 55's with spinouts and nothing could cause runouts other than mis mounted wheels.
