While in the process of getting my 990 ready to paint I removed my hyd pump and washed it out. Question? Should I prime the pump when I put it back on or will the hyd oil get in the pump without bleeding the pump and lines? I don't want to score the inside of the pump because of the lack of oil. Question 2? Is it possible to replace the two 6 volt batteries with one 12 volt? If so anything special to do? Question 3? How hard is it to replace the wiring harness and guages How expensive? Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't worry about priming the pump. I have never had a problem.

It's not that hard to rewire them. Korves sells a wiring harness for about $65. They include a wiring diagram. I just ordered another one today. Gauges are a bit of a problem for the 990. Nobody make an exact replacement for the 990 black face gauges. So you have to choose from black face S&W gauges found at most auto parts stores or use the yellow face Oliver reproductoin gauges. The yellow gauges are only $69 from Rick's Agri-Parts.

There is no trick to replacing the 6 volt batterys with a 12 volt. You can use one 12 volt or two 12 volts wired in paralel. I prefer the looks of two batterys though. It fills the space under the fuel tank.
