IRV MY MYSTAKE IT IS A 230 BUDA.THE THING IS THE CAM GEAR HAS 3 DIFFERNT PUNCHDOTS AND SOME SORT OF NUMBER NOT CLEAR CIRCLED TRYED USING EACH OF THEM NO LUCK HAD NO COMPRESSION FIRST NOW WE DO AT THIS POINT BUT TIMING IS STILL OFF PUSHING COMPRESSION BACK OUT THE CARB .HAS NO VACUUM.WONT DRAW FEUL TO THE CYCLDERS APROX 80LBS PR CYL WHAT DO I NEED TO DO .CANT FIND ANY PICTURE TO GO BY ,

Do you have the front cover as well as the valve cover off. When the keyway on the crankshaft is straight up either the valves on number one or number 6 will be loose the othercylinder will be on valve overlap. Turn it one full turn and they will flip flop. Any how see if you can get a set of dots that will give you that condition. I have not done a Buda in 35 years, but on some engines the dots line up a little before TDC. I might have an old picture, want me to look?

Fred, if I understand correctly you are working on a COOP E-4 or a Cockshutt 40 with a Buda 230 6 cylinder motor. There should be a tooth on crank shaft gear with a single punched dot. There should be a coresponding punched dot on a single space on cam gear. just line the 2 up. if you need mor email me Irv
