I am converting my 660 gas to use less PTO and hydraulics. I found an affordable plain transmission cover in the YT classifieds and am proceeding. Do I need to be concerned about transmission oil getting into the void where the PTO shaft was and oiling the clutch? If so, what is the remedy? If I reinstall the PTO for dyno use, will the PTO shaft be supported well enough without the hyd pump installed? Thanks in advance, RickB

RickB, E-mail me if you're interested in selling the hydraulic unit that you removed and what state you're in. Thanks, Clint@MD

Rick, You should not get any oil on your clutch with out the pto shaft installed, however with the hyd pump or man. lift removed there is no support in the middle of the shaft without installing a support hanger brg. This would have come factory installed with a flat top cover that you talked about. If you are just going to run the pto for short test periods I would not worry about it.
