Earlier this week, I had a message on my cell phone, looks like we won the bid on an 1855 w/ overhaul and fresh paint from the dealer. Our bid was $5,554. Gonna go down this weekend and try to settle up, see about driving her home as well. Looks like a 3rd Ollie is coming home. Too bad our 1755 is gonna have to sit for a while though, looking at saving up and putting a cummins in the old girl... ;-) A different dealer that has our 1755 right now (from taking the loader off and mounting it on our 165) keeps on running it, ran a compression test and everything against our wishes. Probably has a hole in it right now from those guys.

Don, Good luck on the 1855. I hope the guys that overhauled it did all the available updates. Otherwise you'll be right back where you started with the 1755. You overhaul those 310's til your blue in the face but it is no good if they don't take the precautions and do the updates. Good luck.

I talked to the last owner today, he said his uncle did the over haul and they had lots of Ollie's so he's pretty sure they did all the updates. He said it has about 4-500 hrs since being overhauled. Also asked a little about it in general, said it was a great tractor and we won't be disapointed. Just over a month to go till we can hook up and go in the fields and I'm already itchin' to work it a little. Brought it home today and I'm gonna replace all the fluids/ filters and grease it up, get it ready to fly. The tires have about 50% tread left on them, but we'll replace them after a year or 2 when it proves it's worth. I already love the sound of that Turbo...

Don-Wi,
Interested in your repowering with a cummins.
Do you know of anyone who has repowered a Cockshutt 570 with a cummins? I have a few to do and would like to find a plate template.
Thanks,

Nope, I don't think I've ever even seen a cockshutt around here. I've never done a conversion before and this won't happen for maybe a year or 2 yet, I really wanna get a new truck first. How big is a 570 anyways?

On bringing a 3rd Ollie home. Sounds like a good deal to me.

How's the 1600 coming along?

I hope it pans out better than the last ollie we bought from these guys though, they also sold us our lemon 1755 about 5 years ago. I actually think we bought the last 2 Oliver's they've had on their lot. They're actually massey dealer and are usually very good to us. The 1600 is coming slowly, waiting for the weather to warm up a bit. It's ready to be blasted & painted, but I'm waiting for my brother to finish painting another guy's 68' torino to get mine in & blasted. The engine and hydra power are both on stands, waiting to be painted and put in. I just have to put on the external stuff on that. In early January I had to work on our Massey 165 after getting the loader swapped off our 1755. I had to completely rig the Aux. hydraulics, did it through the pto access plate & front mounted pump. Took a little bit to work out the quirks.

Now our 285 has raising engine oil, think its the transfer pump but not sure. Have to take that apart and look at it before the feild work starts up. Also may be looking for a set of 18.4-38 clamp on duals for the 1855. It'll be nice having the 1855 to pull our 20' spring tooth instead of our tired 285 Massey. Looks like a busy spring, espessially that I want to get the 1600 together to plant corn with this year. Our Massey's sit a little too low to see what's going on with the planter. Sorry it's a little long, but we got LOTS of stuff going on here at Starwood Holsteins.

Sounds like you've been and still are real busy. I sure hope the 1855 works out for you and the 1600 is ready in time.

Post some pics if you get the chance.
