Getting ready for my first spring tuneup and the carb is rebuilt (professionally), ready for the new plugs to go in so now I am faced with checking the timing. Totally new to this. After reading the article on tune-ups I decided to go with the more objective timing light method. The question is do I need a special timing light for a 6V system? SHould I get one that is self powered?

Thanks,

Biscuit

If you have a timing light that needs 12 volts
to work, just hook the voltage leads up to your
car or a 12 volt battery and hook your pickup lead (the one attaching to your spark plug) up to the spark plug wire on your six volt vehicle.

Thanks,

That was so simple I completely overlooked it.
