Hi, Everyone! I just got back on Saturday from an eight-day trip down to Corpus Christi, Texas via Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Looked for Olivers, Whites and Molines the whole time, but only saw one Oliver; a 1650 sitting about 20 miles south of Waco, Texas. I saw one AGCO Star 4 wheel drive in Arkansaa, and a few nice , used Whites at a dealership in Missouri. Other than that, it was mostly Deere and Case-IH tractors, with a few Fords and Masseys thrown in for good measure. Did I take the wrong highways, or what? By the way, I did get to tour the USS Texas and the USS Lexington. As a Navy veteran, I enjoyed them immensely! I recommend them both, if you are so inclined. Where are all the Olivers and Whites in Texas and Arkansas?

Hey Merlin. I know your old post name was Merlin in St Paul. I was just wondering if you were in the Altura, MN area ever, or did you just deal with Altura Truck and Tractor. My co-workers at Kalmes Implement across town talk about you and the work done at the former Thompson Implement building. Reply if you wish.

Hi, John! Yes, I am the former owner of Altura Truck & Tractor. We installed a lot of Cummins engines back in the '90's, as well as a lot of truck repair. I am at Concordia Seminary now, studying to become a pastor. Big change from 23 years as a mechanic! I still turn a few wrenches here in Saint Louis, at an International Truck dealership. It is fun to do old, familiar things. Have a great day!

Hi Merlin. My name is Justin Meyer, not John Meyer, but I have met John, he traded in a 4430 at the Implement a couple weeks ago:) I'm originally from Goodhue MN, and moved to Altura to take a job working at Kalmes Imp. My dad runs Olivers, including a 1755 with a 5.9 in it, and the guys said that they used to convert them uptown at the old Thompson shop. I just thought I would drop you a line, since your screen name sounded quite familiar.

I have lived here in west Tn all my life and until I went to Wisconsin I hardly ever layed eyes upon an Oliver around here exept for shows and pulls.Up there they still had them hooked to augers and hay rakes.Mostly JD and Farmall here.

Here in Kansas there are quite a few still in
service. However, my in-laws are cotton farmers
near the Abilene/San Angelo area of Texas and down there I don't think they exist.....

There is a orginal Oliver dealer in Austin area and quite a number of them still in operation in and around Austin. Some day when I get a camera I will post some pictures of my 2050 1850 1650 and 770. Wish I knew U were coming to S Tex. would enjoyed talking about them Olies.
