Bet you had pretty well given up on ol' Dies'l, eh? Sorry again, there, Bill.

Some good news---I talked to the mech tonight. He said that 1370 engines are 10 000 hour engines!!! The only thing that will take them out early is not changing oil, of course, or if the air cleaner hose has split underneath. If it has, maybe you should avoid it. The other things are to check to see if it jumps out of any gear---if it does, it hasn't had the tranny update that will eliminate this. The last thing is not something to look for, but something not to do, and that is don't leave the PTO system engaged when it is not being used. It will put wear on the crankshaft thrust bearing.

Now go and check that tractor out!

Now that's some good advice! Thanks a lot Dies'l.
I didn't know there was a tranny problem, as well
as a potential PTO problem. Thank your mechanic
friend too. There's nothing worse than be taken
by a smooth talking salesman (again!), it helps
to have some ammunition.
