Right now I am restoring my Oliver 88 for my FFA tractor restoration contest. When I bought this particular tractor, the right side break seemed weak. I removed the outer covering, and found the lining, and drum caked with oil, and a little bit of grease. There is a big square hole in the center of the drum on the outside. My question, how do I replace the seal? Any instructions, or processes that you guys have if appreciated! Thanks!!

If I remember take a square shaft or heavy wall square tuband stick into the square and unscrew. The 88 used a special shoulder bolt to hold on the brake drum.

Ihave not done one for about 30 years, the Seal is Oliver part # K-1110, however if I remember correctly when you get the nut you asked about out you will find a groove for an O ring which is used to seal the threads. Also if your tractor has hydraulics, check the oil level in the rear end because if the hydraulic pump seals leak, the oil goes in the transmission. I have seen some with an extra 10 plus gallon over full and that helps make the brake seals leak.

I don't know how close you are a Agco dealer. But if you are close to a bearing place I would go there to get your seals and O-rings.
Don't rule out your Caterpillar and John Deere dealer for parts. If you have a good partsman they can cross reference the part number or by size.
I redone a Oliver 70. Where I live the Agco White dealerships are all gone. I got more parts from Caterpilliar and Deere than I did from Agco. I also saved money too.

For example: Oliver 70 brake seal part# B1110A
AGCO price around the $40-$50 range a piece.
John Deere crosses over to a AH87140 $17.99 a piece.
Go to a bearing place and get a Chicago Rawhide seal for around $14-$15 a piece.

Your Oliver 88 brake seal part # K1110 crosses over to a John Deere AR42005 if the shaft diameter is 3.00", Outside diameter is 4.008", and
thickness of seal is .468". I think they only cost about $7.00 a piece.

The John Deere cross search works about 95% of the time. I wouldn't recommend it for matching gang bearings or flanges for a Oliver or White 252 disk.

Hope this helps you out.

Michael
