I'm starting a slow restoration of a 1960 model 560 Cockshutt I own and would like to know what are the correct size tires for the tractor. The tractor has the adjustable wide front end and is the standard version (not wheatland). It currently has 15.5-38's on the rear and 7.50-16's o the front. Some of the literature I've read says the rear tires should be 12-38's, but other literature says 13-38's. I'm pretty sure that the fronts are supposed to be 6.50-16's.

I might wrong, you say the tractor has an adjustable front end and is a standard tractor, I alway's thought the adjustable front axle's were row crop tractor's.

You're probably right in calling it a row-crop. The front axle is adjustable and so are the rear wheels.

According to the Complete Story,
fronts are 6.00x16, 7.50 optional, rears 12x38, with 13" optional, and 14 or 15's on 34" rims.
A four plow tractor with 269.5 c.i. perkins 4 banger. Perkins 4-270 began with the 59 model.

Don't forget by 1960 the 15.5 on a 14 inch rim had supersceeded the 13.38

I was wondering where you found the information on the 13-38 being superceded by the 15.5-38?How would I go about finding out if I have the 14" rims on my tractor? What points do you measure from? The 15.5's look right on the tractor and for all I know they could be original as weatherchecked as they are.

I worked for an Oliver dealer starting in 1960. So I guess it is experience. Older tires I think even said 15.5 on a 14 inch rim and the 13-38 said 14.9 on a 13 inch rim and by now those numbers may not be there anymore (I do other things to make a living now) so I have now looked at tires for a while. Measure the inside width of the rim.
