I read an article in a Farm Magazine about Case IH reintroducing the Farmall. It went on to say how much their sales went up and, how much of the market they are getting on selling tractors. I was wondering if Agco had read the article and, would be giving some thought about resurrecting The Mighty Green Oliver. Just a very hopeful thought.

Had white motors not insisted on the cheapest engine that would get the job done so they had more money left over to support their dying truck line, green and white tractors would probably still be rolling down the assembly line.

I was told that oliver and cummins were working on a merger or something to that affect in the 60's but the gov't would not approve it. Anyone else hear about that? Gee, lets see, oliver and cummins right out of the factory, can you say monopoly?

The way things are today, they propably aren't smart enough to do so, but if they where just think of how many the could sell.

I pedged to only to buy American for Christmas gifts, I discovered Black and Decker is made in China, so I bought a Mekita drill for my daughter, the drill was assembled in Georgia. Some USA companies put stickers on boxes saying that the product was an American owned company, the product was made some where else. Its time to stop being entitled and get our butts to work and put our bucks where our mouths are. By the way, Delta is made in China and American Standard faucets are made in Mexico. Ain't that interesting. None of their workers can buy a pot to pee into.

hehe which brand is NOT an import these days? Heck even most John Deeres are built in another country. Not sure about the Case/IH but I figure most of the AGCO's are built somewhere else too.

Wait a minute, I think I read somewhere that Kubota just built a new plant somewhere around Atlanta.

I work at a CaseIH dealership and I believe that
most,or at least a great portion of the tractors
built by Case are made in Turkey of all places.
Cyrus McCormick and J.I.Case are undoubtedly
spinning in their graves. One of these days we
are gonna wake up and find nothing left in this
country but gambling casino jobs.

I think part of the problem anymore is that
everybody has the "Wal-Mart mentality". Everybody
has to look for the absolute lowest price before
they buy anything. So what do the companies do?
They use the absolute lowest price labor and
material that they can find. That material and labor is no longer in North America. I guess I'm
as guilty as a lot of people even though I try to look for the "Made in USA" label.
Of course the CEOs of the companies still want a bigger and better salary and the unions (as well
as the non-union workers) still want a bigger salary and more benefits. So what happens? The work goes overseas.
In the end, and probably for several reasons, all of which mean getting the product out at a cheaper price, the majority of work and products are now built elsewhere.

You've "touched a nerve" with me. I no longer darken Wal-mart's door- except when they have already driven every local store out of business that had the item I need. Even then, I try K-mart first. Unfortuntely, you're right about everybody demanding "cheap", and even the stalwart union guys can be seen at Wally World. Everybody should put their money where their mouth is- demand US made products, and shop at your local stores instead of the big box stores.
