I have an 1800C that is low on hyd. fluid. I checked with the owners manual and it said to use 10w oil and an additive. Will regular hyd.ooil work? I am thinking it will but want to make sure before doing anything.

Thanks!

The hydraulic oil can be "normal" hydraulic oil, but if your talking about the rear end, it has to be 80w90. We use Farm Oyl in the green barrel for our hydraulic systems in all of our Olivers.

thanks! yes I was talking about the hydraulic oil , the book calls for 80W gear oil in the rear but I wasn't real sure about the other. Tried to find the Type A transmission oil for the hydra Drive today at Walmart but they didn't carry it. Will get it tomorrow at Rural King I reckon.

Type "A" is the same as dexron/mercon III used in most automatic trannies today.

I am glad you relied as that was going ot be my next post. The guy at the parts store said that type A was replaced by Dextron ( shows how much I keep up with it I guess ) but after figuring out what the Hydra Drive does he recommeded using type F because it doesn't have something in it that Dextron does that will make it handle the heat better. However since Dextron replaced A I think I'll stick with it.

Thanks for the info!
