Hey guys,
Do you read your magazine? The last 2 issues of the Hart Parr Oliver Collector have carried articles describing events at the 2004 Winter Get Together. I don't mean to give you a short answer but you are making it sound like we have not done our job in publicizing this event. Any questions not covered in the magazine articles, I will try to answer.

He asked about activities for the GENERAL PUBLIC. That means those that don't get the magazine!

Thanks, VaDave. That was why I said "general public." We farmed with Oliver tractors for years and now there is an Oliver show here in Pennsylvania I could actually attend. I've been following the saga of HP-03 and Sherry and the magazine and HPOCA on the discussion board here and if this is how the "general public" is treated by the organization maybe me and my money and potential membership will stay home.

Sorry, sorry, sorry! Please don't hurl used tractor tires at me. I misinterpreted the question about "general public." ALL tractor lovers are very welcome at the Winter Get Together at the Eden Resort Inn and Conference in Lancaster, PA on February 26,27 and 28.
We will even take the "red guys" and the ones with the "off color green" so that we can show them what real tractors are like. This event is being hosted by the Mason Dixon Oliver Cletrac Collectors Association (MDOCCA)which is a local chapter with members in Delaware, Maryland and southeastern PA. We also have a few members in New Jersey, New York and Virginia.

As for what is happening at the Get Together, on Thursday, Landis Zimmerman is planning an open house at his business in nearby Ephrata, PA. It is open to everyone but if you plan to eat lunch there, please give him a call,in advance, at 717-738-2573. The date for this Get Together was planned to co-incide with the Beiler sale outside of New Holland, PA so that people from out of the area could experience this event. Thurs., Feb 26 and Friday, Feb. 27 are the dates for the Beiler Sale. Also, on Friday, there is a bus tour planned to Kitchen Kettle village in Intercourse and Chocolate World in Hershey. Advance reservations are needed at $8.00 per person. We have plans for an outdoor tractor/crawler show and encourage all, who can, to bring a tractor. Jerry Webb (410-398-5123) is handling the show. Of course this is very dependent on the weather.

We have quite a number of commercial vendors coming, selling a variety of tractor related items. There will also be other chapters selling Oliver/Cletrac related items and there will be toy tractor displays. The MDOCCA will be having a "silent action" to raise money to fund this event. Landis plans to show old Cletrac movie reels on Saturday.

Saturday evening is the banquet. Bill Mantz (717-266-0692) is handling reservations for this. A reservation form can be found on the HPOCA website. The banquet begins at 7:00p.m.
--doors open at 6:00p.m. Speaker will be Lyman Dellinger, a former Oliver field man from the midwest. Generally, there is a "fun auction"
following the banquet, handled by the national assoc.,--we have no details on this. We are assuming that there will be a HPOCA general memb-ership meeting on Saturday. We have a meeting room reserved at the hotel but, again, we have no details on it.

Hope this has provided some of the information that you all need. Remember, everyone is welcome. Looking forward to seeing you in Lancaster, PA. Betty Moore

Hey, consider yourself lucky you are part of the "general public". That saves you the embarassment of being treated like a small, non-understanding child, which is the way most of the HPOCA members feel right about now.

I've been watching from the outside. I saw the vidoe of Hart-Parr #3 on RFDTV. I've read the discussions and debates. It seems a shame to me that something which began among people who love the old Olivers has become a thing of recall votes, split organizations and they said/they said.

Me and my brother, here in western Pennsylvania, thought we would knock off from a day of work and drive out to Lancaster, see and talk Oliver and maybe join up.

I appreciate the guys who took a minute or two to explain what will be going on. We'll probably go but with a grain of salt.

If the weather is fitting I am bringing one of my Cummins Olivers for the mini-show they are having.

You guys are right the fireworks in the club might be interesting to watch with all that is going on...

Is anyone planning to go over to Farmersville Equipment while you are up there??? I wondered if they are going to be open on Sat for us to go roam around the Oliver bone yard. I would love to snoop through 400 bone Olivers.

Where is Farmersville Equipment located at? I live 10 min from Lancaster and I have never heard of an Oliver Salvage yard around here.

Right Larry, the mailing adress is Ephrata, but I think it is in the town of Farmersville. I have tried to find the place three different times I have been in the area, and havent found it yet. I am hoping someone up there knows where it is and we can get there sometime while we are up there.

I'll try to give you directions for Farmersville Equipment. From Lancaster take 222 north to 322 turn right (you'll be going south on 322). Then turn right after the trafic light in Hinkeltown ( at Mattins bike shop) Then right at the furnature store. (You should be on E Farmersville Road. [I hope :-)]. I have been their and you may be disapointed if you are thinking normal bone yard. The tractors I've seen are taken apart and the parts stored in bins. If you want better directions you might call them 717-354-2150. I hope this helps.

There are usally vendors there with new reproduction parts and some might have some used or NOS stuff. Several of the chapters will have thier own booths with things like t-shirts,ect. Some toys, books, and memorabilia also. I don't know if they have any seminars planned, but they have had in the past. Go to the HPOCA website there will be more info there. WB.

Might be fun to watch the guys demanding the resignations of the board members and officers after the recent magazine fiasco. With a little urging, the masses might even move to the next plateau- a pitchfork-and-torch march on the headquarters hotel.
