It is hard to pick out just one thing that is sad about this whole deal, but to me, some have forgotten about all the volunteers and members from all the different HPOCA chapters that have given countless hours, driven many miles, and out of pocket expenses over the years (probably without a thanks) to make this club the great club it is and a select few have turned sherry into the Oliver goddess ??? I give this board credit for doing something that has probably been long over due and that is to keep the best interest of the HPOCA at the forefront. As sherry mentioned in the july/august 1998 issue Time seems to go by so quicklyand things change so quickly. Im one of those people who could never get bored because there is always something to do. I feel sorry for the new generation when I hear one of them say Theres nothing to do! Theres always something to do and theres always something to be learned If she has so much to do, let her do them. If it is starting a newsletter of some sort, why not. Lets just quit all this get out the rope and hang the board attitude. Or maybe, if sherry really is a true Oliver lover, and is concerned about the members, and has the club in her best interest, shell continue to write articles for the HPOCA magazine for her fans to read and enjoy. There has had to have been some things going on the past years which can not be discussed that have lead up to this. Lets move on and have a great winter get-together (especially for the new members and first time show attendees). Rick (#3747) PS, Special thanks to Chris & Becky Losey for your HPOCA commitment and support and a great looking magazine and to sherry for working with Chris & Becky to get the magazine out in time.

Well, I'm not sure I agree with all that, but I did renew to HPOCA. I also appreciate the effort everyone involved did to get the club where it is today. (or was 6 mo. ago)There are too many good people to just walk away. I don't know what really did happen, and I don't think that I want to know anymore, but I'll stay with HPOCA AND back Sherry 100%.I've been in business longer than I care to remember, and over the years have fired more incompetent operators than I have relitives!, NEVER once did I fire a man without confronting him face to face and detailing why I was letting him go. Makes me think there are some weak kneed folks there. Did you ever notice how quickly the grass and weeds take over an abandon gas station? It won't be too long and this too will heal.
Best regards, Larry Coltrin

Rick # 3747,

Have you tried the newest invention in writing? It is called a "paragraph". When changing thoughts, places, ideas, or speakers, we start a new "paragraph".

Paragraphs have a way of breaking up the tedium of trying to follow the thought patterns of the writer. This makes for an easier read and keeps the readers mind focused on what is trying to be presented by the writer.

Of course it helps if the writer knows what they are talking about and has all the facts sustantiate their claims.

I hope this helps the next time you decide to post a tirade.

My my, what a morale boost that was. I would think that a half hour conversation with Landis Zimmerman, who is second to absolutly nobody for hours of service and dedication to the hpoca, would tell anybody how morally stable this clubs leadership is. Im sure one would find out that the "Oliver goddess" issue is only the tip of the iceburg when it comes to why he is stepping down from further involvement. But nice try anyways!!!!!

I've been laying low in this fray for 4 months now and it is making me sick to my stomach. Sherry did a nice job with the magazine. And the officers and the board members have worked very hard over many years to get HPOCA where it is. Who's wrong? I don't think many know, but the destructive comments here and on the HPOCA board aren't doing anyones cause any good as far as I'm concerned. Rick, I appreciate your comments and I want you to know that you aren't alone. I just renewed my membership and I'm hoping that we will have some great shows and meetings in the very near future.

Because of the HPOCA, Oliver fever has grown leaps and bounds here in NC. Because of its summer and winter shows, website, magazines and publications, good members, and those that direct the organization, we can get parts, service, expertise, and "tractors" in our state. While there were some Oliver dealers in the state, parts availability and affordability have always been a deterent to the use of Olivers. Not anymore. Oliver love, fever, and collection is at a all time high and the HPOCA deserves much of the credit. If any of those mentioned in Ricks message, never received a Thank You, they will now. Thank You! Largely because of you, I can do all aspects of my farming with "Oliver Power"..... For Men Who Grow! Thats what I see about the organization. A Sherry column does sound good though!

Unbelievable! How many individuals would write free articles for an organization that terminated them for no good cause. GET REAL!

Frank, I couldn't agree with you more. Sherry put her all in the HPOCA magazine, it was her life. To have a contract and then be terminated 2 months later was devastating. I will give her all the support I can on her new venture because she is not a quitter.

Hey Frank, Have you seen the copy of the letter Sherry got? Seems I read on here somewhere that she had emailed it to a few folks. I posted on the HPOCA board that since the 30-60 days had passed I was thinking she might post it so everyone who has backed her can see the reasons that Terry wouldn't tell anyone.

On another note, you gonna be at Sardi Tn in April? we are thinking of riding down and showing there this year, heard it is a real good show if not a big one.

I haven't seen the letter nor have I asked to see it. I am supporting her with her new magazine and I am very excited about it. I plan to be at Sardis if I don't forget it like I did this past fall. I wish they would advertise a bit more. Don't forget the June Atwood show and our Ruritan show the third weekend in June to be held at the Browns Ruritan center off of 412E. Jackson.

Atwood show is easy to remember as I am now on the board of the Atwood club. I'll try to send you a reminder for Sardis and hopefully we can get together there. I'm gonna try to get down to the Jackson show as well, it seems like there was one up here that same weekend and we had hay on the ground so it was just easier to go to it instead of Jackson. I think Billy McKnight sent to Jackson as he was telling me about it.

You all sound like a bunch of babies. Why don't you all grow up and get on with life. I,m new to this club, but not Olivers Third Generation and I look forward to the magazine late or not. I'm just glad for all the interest in Oliver Tractors, because that is why I joined, not because of the board or editor. I just like my Olivers and want the resources to continue this passion. Thanks SUPER 22

Yeah,,,,,Right,,,, Don't look like there are many here who share your opinion. At least I for one do not. Don't hold your breath waiting for Sherry to contribute articles to HPOCA magazine, it sounds like she's busy with her own projects. I don't recall anyone referring to her as "Oliver goddess" all she did is do a job and do it well.

You are new all right I will give you that. This Terry (I have One Oliver and it is painted red) Allen and the board took it upon there self to give the editor a new contract and then fire her two months later. Sherry was at the meeting(that was deciding her future) but some how Mr Allen forgot to tell Sherry that they were going into an exe. session and that her future with as the club would be decided. Then the man live less than say 200 miles from her and he can not tell here in person that she has been fired because he said that he could not find her after the meeting and then could not drive to her and face her like a man which I have come to the conclussion that he is not. Then One tractor man tells everyone on the HPOCA message boards that he will explain in the magazine the boards reasoning and then proceedes to lie and not tell the membership anything and gives them a Magazine late that he said would be on time so you can see that he is earning quite the reputation as a man of his word. Then he kicks off of the nomination board of the club the father of the former editor and past president of the club and then proceeds to alienate the Circulation and publication chairman and one of the best men you will ever met in Landis Zimmerman to quit because he went against one man tractor and his friends. This is what has got so many members in an uproar. This is all over One tractor man and his friends not getting to play with the restoration of No. 3.

So they cut Landis out too now? Gee, lucky they have Mr. Starr left to keep some Oliver history straight yet....I too wondered why I got membership renewal so early, and as RockinB said, looking back on it and all, it makes perfectly good sense. I love Oliver and White tractors, but if these club leaders keep cutting anyone that holds this club together, it will crumble. Hopefully its not too late already..... .

Hey Eric really got a good laugh out of the "One Tractor Man".Your ability to hoe between the rows is admirable.I smelled smoke when I received the premature pitch for membership renewal two weeks prior to the infamous meeting, being that my dues were paid thru May/June 2004.Upon inquiry, I received a typical off the shelf public relations answer which led me to suspect something was in the wind. and lead to my doubting the crediblity of the "One Tractor Man".These doubts only to increase as things unfolded.
