Is a 1950 that has been converted to a V6 worth more than a factory 4 cylinder as a collectable tractor?

I'll bet you could get a puller to pay more than for one with original engine, to "one-up" the other guys. I don't think these Super 99 GM's are bringing 10 grand plus from guys who just take them to the Oliver meets and display them, and argue with each other about whether the brake return spring should have 17 coils or 19. . .

I assume you are from WA. What shows do you go to? Other states may be different but in WA you would not have anywhere to pull a tractor with a non stock block. Few shows have provisions at their pulling contest for tractors that are obviously not stock. I am not aware of a single tractor pulling contest in WA that would allow you pull competitively a tractor like that. A few would allow for exhibition only. So it would be kind of hard to "one up anybody" since you are likely to be the only one. Most of the shows wouldn't even let you pull it at all so it's pleasure factor would limited. Also, now that every tractor pulling contest in WA has a speed limit you would never get to take advantage of all that extra power unless you weighted it up something awful.

Now you really have me curios. How many coils should there be brake spring? Is it 17 or 19 coils? I've not heard this argument. Besides everybody I know spends their time discussing whether they like red wheels or green wheels on Super 99 GMs.

Well no, not exactly. To the purest type of collector it would not be worth much but as novelty item it could worth as much as an original. You never know.

The tractor should be worth the same.. that would be a good farm tractor, lots of power if yuo could get the power to the ground you could easyly pull 50 feet, plus she would scream better then that 4-53 that V6 shoudl be able to go up to 3400 RPM...

I highly doubt it. Most of these tractors are wanted for the pulling circuit, and other then the Cummins conversion done to the 310 Waukesha engined tractors, I've not seen many Olivers converted to a different engine. What kind of V6 is this engine?

The engine is a 6V53 Detroit and looks almost factory. The hydrapower has been replaced with a straight shaft.

I honestly dont think that tractor has any collectable value because it does not have its original engine, but for a work horse it may work good. My two cents....
