I was at a sale a few weeks ago and I got into
a discussion with a guy who seemed pretty knowedgeable on Olivers. He told me certain Olivers have weak rearend gears and are expensive to replace.
Anyway, he listed certain Olivers in the 1600-1950 model range that he said were weak and should be avoided for serious pulling. He also noted a few models that one should look for if a person was going to use for pulling or really hard work.

Any comments on this? What models are to be sought after and which ones should be avoided?
Or....was it all an old wife's tale?
