I'm on board. Also consider that there are a number of Oliver advertisers in every issue, including some (one in particular "crawls" to mind) who are also disgusted with the recent turn of events, and I'm sure they would support it enthusiastically. The others would come on board as circulation increases, for economic considerations, if nothing else. Also, Sherry, I would be willing to edit any material emailed to me, for grammar and style, if it would help.

I would certainly join a new club with Sherry at the helm. She was given a dirty deal.

I am new to the club so I just got the 1st Oliver magazine I have ever seen. The old magazine must have been great because I thought the new one was pretty nice. I especially liked the story about Dale Nelson In Wilmar, Minnesota.

Received my magazine today. Have to agree! Just isn't the same? Nothing against the new editors. Doesn't have the personality that Sherry gave the magazine!!!!! Have one more issue left on my membership! Will probably not renew? Come on Miss Sherry, get another magazine going!!!! Just like the movie, If You Build It, We Will Come. There is more support than you can imagine! I would even be willing to wager that Terry Allen would give you a thumbs up? Just Kidding! Come on Sherry, the bus is ready to go!

Sounds like a great idea to me. Sherry could handle it, she's smart and besides that she's downright good looking.

Good idea, but I wonder if enough people will join.
I'm definitely tired of whats going on with HPOCA, and don't care much for the new magazine.

I already have myself an Oliver club. I'm the one and only member in it. Membership is cheap and it is very easy to schedule activities. I get to publish stuff for myself at my convenience. On top of that I dont get to hear whinings...

I am very interested in a new club. This is a hobby that is supposed to be fun and relaxing. The HPOCA is not fun and certainly not relaxing any more. I had already decided not to renew my HPOCA membership anyway.

Count me in. Say the word Sherry and I will send you check for a subscription to your news letter. I have talked to 6 other guys so far and they all will subscribe to your news letter too. I bet you would get at least half HPOCA membership to subscribe immediately. I suggest bi-monthly on even months. That way those who continue with the HPOCA would receive an Oliver related publication monthly. First issue in April. I don't care if it's only three pages to start with. I will ever right an article if that were to help. I think the market would bare two publications. You put out a good product and everybody knows it. Why don't you just keep on doing what you have always done? Only this time be your own boss.

Thanks guys! You sure know how to perk a gal up. However, I have no intentions of getting involved in a political situation again. If and only if, I were to get involved in publishing a magazine, it would not be directly tied to a club.

I have no desire to take members away from the HPOCA. But there are 2 JD, 2 IH and 2 MM magazines.

I can't make any promises at this time. Starting something like this wouldn't be cheap and I haven't exactly been saving up for this. But those of you who know me, know where my heart is and I'll leave it at that. ;)

I have a commerical printing business and will be glad to help get this started. The newsletter idea I can do for cost, the magazine depends on a lot of variables which you are familiar with.
My 1850 is not quite ready for prime time but could be used as a before picture.

Sherry, If you are available to print a news letter which will evolve into a magazine, a number of us would be willing to subscribe for say 5 years. That should give you some start up money. You would be working for yourself. Anyone could subscribe, HPOCA member on not. Please think about a way to make this happen and I am sure that there will be more support than can be imagined.

OK--So what's the extimate for starting up a small magazine. Always can start small and grow.
Then lets do a count, or poll, and see if we can get the start-up money.

Well since I have been "invited" to quit the HPOCA by someone who happens to like the new editor and the deal that Sherry got, I guess I am looking for a new publication as well. I know such an endeavor is expensive but I can afford to pitch in a few hundred to help with the start up costs.

I am like the others: start with a news letter; a way to get in touch with others and share info and/or swap stories. It need not be elaborate or even in color for the first year or so, just delivered on a timely basis.

One of the first issues could include a short personal narrative submitted by each of us. A photo of us with one of our Olivers would be a nice addition to said article.

I can even submit a few articles and photos of some of my Olivers in the process of being restored. I am going to retire this summer and I hope to have some spare time to work on them. Photography is one of my hobbies and therefore taking good pics is no bother and rather enjoyable. I might even be availible to cover some of the events featuring Oliver tractors.

Well enough for now.

Sherry

Just a thought but a non club news letter or magazine would be the way to go. What about a publication that would include the the other brands that came under the White umbrella such as Cockshutt, MM etc. With this addition circulation should increase. I am willing to help.

THAT would be too good, something pertaining to the whole scheme of things,(i.e. White, M.M., Oliver), and everything involved with the whole company be it good or bad and how things played out at the end of it. I often wonder how many 1650's would be sold if the "presses" were started again. Just a thought.
