Well, I removed the final drive cover, and the lift assembly today. It is basicly frozen still, I put a couple of heat bulbs on it to try and thaw it out some to get that stuff out of the transmission and rear end. All the gear still look good, at least what I can see. The left side axle is almost rotted from the calcium in the tires leaking,, I have a few 77's I am wondering if the 77 axle and housings will fit the 88 rear end, and use the 77 bull gears,, Is this possible to do? Looks like the housing bolt pattern may be the same,, I got a new set of brakes, and covers for it too,, I noticed that the brake pedals are made of aluminum, is that a common part on the 88? never seen them like that. I will post the Serial number,, if someone would help me tell me what year it is,, LOL I sand blasted the engine block,(not the inside) and sent it off to the machine shop to hot tank it. Also,, the clutch was so badly rusted, will the throwout bearing from the 77 interchange? any other clutch parts interchange as well? Thanks,, More later Chad

Wow, sounds like you got a big job going there! I think the guys at Obrien County Imp. could help alot, they've been great help too me in my restoration project, that is, if no one can help you here. They're number is 800-320-6224 or 712-324-4871 and ask for Tom, he knows his stuff.

It'll have to be when the wife is around, maybe tomorrow evening, pretty sad, huh? I've gotten my but chewed to many times so I'll let her do it.(hee-hee).Is there a difference between the 77 and 88 grills?, I have a couple of sets here but I'm not sure of any differences. I'll e-mail you soon. Thanks.
