I have no idea what to offer so any help is appreciated. I'm looking at an Oliver Super 88 Rowcropper 65 HP Diesel with a front-end loader. It has a new clutch, new tires, and runs great. The one hydraulic gasket for the loader is leaking and needs replaced. Asking price is $1500/best offer. Is this a good deal and what is the approximate worth of this tractor?

Where are you guys finding these tractors?
I paid $2500 for my Super 88 diesel two years
ago and felt I got a fair deal at the time. I've
restored it about a year ago. They've since gone down to the $2200 range around here. You can see mine at: Link Bob Ostmo

Since you say they were "asking $1500" that would indicate they will take less so if I were buying I would try to get it for less. On the other hand I would not hesitate to pay $1500 for just an Oliver Super 88 in the condition you decribe. If the loader is good it could command a lot more than $1500 were I live. (WA) A Super 88 is only 54 HP. If it is not a good enough deal for you let me know. Have you priced out new tires?

If the loader and bucket are in good shape and only has one cylinder leaking, I would offer $1200 for it. If the bucket is hydraulic even better. A loader and bucket are probably worth $200 to $400. Make sure the 88 runs good!

Well, Ron would say $50. But realistically I'd offer a grand and see if he jumps. I had to pay asking price for my Super 88 diesel with a wide front end. I had to give him the whole $800...
