Anybody that collects old tractors has explained to their wife what a good investment they are. We have justified buying one more because it was to good of a deal to pass up. An Oliver brings more money than it's counter part in any other make. The only exception might be a JD. Some makes of tractors still aren't worth much at all. So what model of Oliver tractor do you think will appreciate the most in the years to come and why.

You get what you pay for. What's old scrap iron worth now? Probably a little less with puke green Oliver paint on it.

This junior deere fan must not have enough to do. It's real sad that dad bought him an expensive tractor right off, knuckle bustin' builds character. With his attitude dark alleys should be avoided. And remember it's all on the wheel, what goes around, comes around.

Around me everyone is buying a few acres of land and living on it. Little utility tractors are booming. If I were planning on a type to put stock in, I'd have to go with the Super 55, 550 and for a little more initial investment the 1365. I could use one as I fixed it up and easily double my money in a year or two. But if my wife found out, they would be subject to the going bid at my estate sale...

Dennis H is probably right on target with his assesment of the Super 55 or the 550 class of tractor. I'm one of those guys who bought land in the country (10+ years ago) and now all I see around me is developement. Most people moving out here are buying 2.5 to 10 acres, for people on the high end of that scale the Utility tractors are ideal.

I have a Cub Cadet and an Oliver Super 55 Diesel. For many people the Utility tractors are a less expensive alternative to a new compact diesel Kubota, Deere, etc. Plus they are American made, have a nostalgic value, and do the work needed.

For investment purposes I'd buy one with power steering. Many people moving to the country are city boys (doctors/lawyers), power steering would be a bonus for them and they'd pay extra for it. I'd like it too, but I don't have a front loader on my Super 55 so it isn't a big problem.
