I need to shed some weight on my RC 60. Anybody got any experience with removing the lift box and replacing it with a "fabricated" cover plate & shifter tower? Did Oliver make such an animal or did all come with lift boxes? Any info would be appreciated.

The lift box you refer to is actually a cultivator lift used to lift the cultivator when cultivating corn. A tin transmission cover and shifter can be used to replace it as not all 60's were equiped with a lift. I may have one. Is your 60 a 4 speed or a 5 speed transmission? Just unbolt the unit and it will lift off. Any questions, e-mail me, I'll be glad to help out all I can.

Thanks for the reply Kenny. Tried to email you but your address is blocked. I've got the box off. You say that not all 60's came with lift box but used a tin cover in it's place and I assume some sort of shifter tower as mine (as are all I assume) has the tower cast as part of the box. If you have one of these set-ups I would surely be interested in it. Mine is a '48 with the 5-speed. Thanks and let me know.
Later,
Dave
