My 1850's injection pump has developed a leak where the throttle control goes into the pump. Is there an O-ring or seal there, that I can repair or will it need to be taken in for service?.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks fellas!!! I'll try and round up the gasket and o-rings, then give it a shot.

Again, Thank you!! I really appreciate your help.

Those two are right. I did this a couple of times too 35 years ago. I had a little tool that threads on the shaft that stays so when you put the cover back on you pull the shaft through. There is one caution and it is on the shut off linkage if I remember correctly. You might want to take the pump off because then everthing will be a straight up lift and the same going back together since it is a vertical mount pump. There is a blind spline so the pump only goes on one way
This makes no difference if you have the orignal pump drive or the later heavy duty replacement. Just check your scribe line and see if they line up to start with.

Rick has told you right. I took a CAV pump apart on an Allis 5050 last year and there was nothing difficult about it. I even took parts from one for an 1850 to repair it. I still have the 1850 pump and can look at it tommorow and see which shaft stays and which one comes out with cover. WB.

I is not necessary to remove the pump to fix the leak if there is vertical clearance above the pump to remove and replace the cover without introducing a bunch of debris. I did this repair on a CAV on a Perkins in a Gehl Skidloader once many moons ago. I am not real familiar with your 1850, but here's what I know. You will need a gasket for the cover that will contain the shutoff and throttle shafts. You will need o-rings for the shutoff and throttle shafts. When you remove the housing/cover, one of the shafts will come off with it, the other must have the external lever removed and the lever stays with the pump when the cover is removed. Trouble is, I don't remember which one stays. That's the gist of it, you will have to verify which shaft stays with the pump.
