A HUGE thanks to all who responded to our clutch "issues" thread...especially AJAX. We got the tractor apart with no problem whatsoever; thanks to all of the directions we got; and found what the trouble was. Several of the dampener springs in the center of the clutch driven disc had broken and were scattered all over inside the clutch cover. The clutch cover was a 12" Borg & Beck, and it was the most damaged pressure plate I have ever removed that WAS STILL ACTUALLY WORKING. The throwout fingers were all bent, and the ends of the fingers had irregular wear patterns. The pilot bearing was stiff and rough, as was the throwout bearing. The transmision nose has some wear from the pilot bearing spinning. Does anyone have a sugestion as to what we might do to compensate for the slightly undersize pilot shaft diameter? We also found a lot of wear on the front splines of the PTO shaft from years of grinding feed with a PTO Grinder-Mixer. We are also going to pull the rear main bearing oil seal and press in a new one. One of the Oliver guys who gave us some info warned me to be sure and replace that oil seal.....leaking or not. The one we have is definitely leaking.

Check with your bearing supplier if a speedy sleeve or speedy shim would work on that shaft. It's a shim cylinder that slides onto worn out shafts. I used them on my axles and pinion shafts for my Super 55. I had grooves worn on the shafts from old seals. I filled the groves with JB Weld, emory clothed to an even surface with the existing shaft then installed the speedy sleeve. Not sure if it would work in your application. The dealer wouldl know better.

Sleeves for the rear seal and oversize seals to fit this sleeve are or were available from Agco
