Can I replace seals & Gear Oil on my 550 Steering gear with out pulling the Dash & steering wheel off??
Can I get the forward shaft out by removing throtle linkage? which bolt do I remove to put grease back in ?? I assume I will need some type of oil pump??
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kenny

One of the bolts that hold the steering arms in is drilled into the oil cavity.I don't remember if its right or left side.If neither is drilled then do it yourself. the bolt will hold the oil in.You remove the upper plug way up on the top shaft and keep pumping untill oil comes out there. If your unit is old and loose than its best to use grease like deere corn head grease. That way it will stay in there.Owners manuels say to use oil, service manuels say to use grease.

It's the right rear bolt thats the filler. The seals can be replaced by removing the right and left pitman arms ant the 2 bolts holding the covers, the seals can be replaced at this time.
