Just bought a real early 70. I am trying to restore back to original shape. I got 2 blocks and 2 heads. The first block has the dist on the left front with casting numbers D600A614M. The second block has the dist on the right front. which block is the correct one. Also one head is a 12 port and the other is a 9 port. Which one would be correct. Thanks In advance. Mike

Up to serial number 223151 (Rowcrop) or 303507 for a standard the engines would have used 5 timing gears. This means the mag was on the left side. The distributor is an add on. The casting numbers for the head start out D600A, then there are 3 more numbers. Look and see what yours is. Send me an address and I can send you some information.

I forgot to mention, all Hart-Parr 70's had the 5 gear engine.
