I am considering changing my 550 from 6 volt to a 12 volt system. What do I need to do? Any advice would be appreciated. Allen

I thank you for the wakeup call. I assumed it was 6 volt. Sure cranks like it but again the battery is weak. I just got this tractor and have much to learn. How can I tell what year this 550 is? again thanks J Schwiebert for your help.

Hello. We also own a 55 and we found through Yesterday's tractors.com a total upgrade system by Dennis Hawkins. Very nicely done and easy to follow. Good Luck with yours.

Wait a minute. Oliver went to 12 volt systems for gas tractors in 1957. The 550 was introduced in 1958. All 550 models are 12 volt. What did I miss in the coversation
